4-22-14 | Sydney Harbaugh - Softball

Softball player Sydney Harbaugh is the Binghamton University Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC Athlete of the Week after she hit .640 (16-for-25) in leading Binghamton to a 6-2 week. Six of Harbaugh’s hits during the week were for extra bases and she earned America East Player of the Week for her outstanding play.

4-16-14 | Dan Mazurek - Men's Lacrosse

The Binghamton University Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC. Athlete of the Week is freshman men’s lacrosse player Dan Mazurek. The Ringwood, NJ native won a career-high 17-of-18 faceoffs and picked up a program single season record 14 ground balls in Binghamton’s 9-6 win over Vermont this past weekend. Mazurek also notched his first collegiate point with an assist against the Catamounts.

4-9-14 | Eddie Posavec - Baseball

Binghamton University’s Wells Fargo Advisors LLC Athlete of the Week is freshman catcher Eddie Posavec. Posavec hit .636 (7-for-11) with 6 RBI in the three-game sweep of UMBC. In addition he caught all 25 innings in four games during the week. He went 4-for-4 with three RBI in the series-opening win over Retrievers and then pushed across the go-ahead run in Game 2 with a perfectly-executed squeeze bunt single. Posavec had a .818 slugging and .583 on-base percentage against UMBC and earned America East Rookie of the Week honors for his efforts.

3-31-14 | Tucker Nelson - Men's Lacrosse

The Binghamton University Wells Fargo, LLC Athlete of the Week is junior men’s lacrosse player Tucker Nelson. In Binghamton’s 11-10 win at Hartford on Saturday, Tucker helped ignite the Bearcats with a two-goal, three-assist effort. He ranks first on the team in assists and 12th in the country handing out two per game on average. Nelson has recorded two or more points in all eight games this season and is riding a 22-game point scoring streak heading into Wednesday’s matchup with No. 8 ranked Syracuse.

3-26-14 | Cody Reed - Wrestling

Binghamton University’s Wells Fargo Advisors LLC Athlete of the Week is senior wrestler Cody Reed. A three-time NCAA qualifier, Reed finished his collegiate career with a strong showing at the NCAA Championship in Oklahoma City last week, knocking off two top-10 wrestlers. He will graduate with 94 career victories, good for seventh all-time at Binghamton.

3-12-14 | Sophia Racciatti - Women's Lacrosse

Binghamton University’s Wells Fargo Advisors LLC Athlete of the Week is sophomore women’s lacrosse player Sophia Racciatti. Racciatti led Binghamton to a pair of home wins over Niagara and St. Bonaventure last week helping the Bearcats tie a program record for home victories. The second-year starter had back-to-back career bests after netting two goals and handing out three assists in each contest.

3-3-14 | Jesse Garn - Men's Track & Field

The Binghamton University Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC Student Athlete of the Week is junior men’s track and field standout Jesse Garn. He just completed a whirlwind three-week stretch that included competing at the Millrose Games, guiding Binghamton to a second place finish at the America East Indoor Championships and lastly by becoming the second runner in school history to break four minutes in the mile on Sunday, March 2 at the Boston Last Chance Meet.

2-27-14 | Bri Arthur - Women's Lacrosse

Binghamton University’s Wells Fargo Advisors LLC Athlete of the Week is freshman women’s lacrosse player Bri Arthur. Arthur led Binghamton to its first season-opening victory in program history scoring five goals in the Bearcats’ 20-6 rout of Howard last Saturday. The Watertown, N.Y. native tied a Binghamton single-game freshman record for goals en route to capturing America East Rookie of the Week honors.

2-19-14 | Paul O’Donnell - Men's Lacrosse

The Wells Fargo Advisors Binghamton University Athlete of the week is junior men’s lacrosse player Paul O’Donnell. In their season-opening 8-6 win over Sacred Heart this weekend, O’Donnell scored a career-high five goals, including the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter. The junior attackman scored three of Binghamton’s man-up goals on Sunday.

2-13-14 | Jordan Reed - Men's Basketball

Sophomore guard Jordan Reed has been named Binghamton University’s Wells Fargo Advisors Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 3-10. Reed led Binghamton to a 73-58 win over Maine and a near upset of Stony Brook. The standout guard averaged 21.5 ppg and 15.5 rpg garnering his third America East Player of the Week honor of the season.

2-5-14 | Caitlin Kelly - Women's Swimming & Diving

The Wells Fargo Advisors Binghamton University Athlete of the Week for the dates of Jan. 27-Feb. 2 is junior swimmer Caitlin Kelly. Caitlin helped guide Binghamton to their third straight dual meet win with a 179-121 victory over MAAC favorites Marist. She set a pair of pool records in the 50 and 100 free and also swam to two more wins in the 200 medley and 400 free relays. In addition, she was also named America East Swimmer of the Week.

1-28-14 | Cody Reed - Wrestling

Senior wrestler Cody Reed is the Wells Fargo Advisors Binghamton Athlete of the week for January 20-26. Reed extended his win streak to seven matches with a pair of wins over the weekend at 197 lbs. The highlight was a 3-1 decision over the 11th ranked wrestler in the country when he recorded a takedown in the final three seconds of the match. In the last nine days, Reed has defeated three nationally ranked wrestlers and he is now 20-8 overall and 10-3 in duals.

1-21-14 | Corinne Zotter - Women's Swimming & Diving

The Wells Fargo Advisors Binghamton University Athlete of the Week is junior swimmer Corinne Zotter. Corinne helped guide Binghamton to a 2-0 record over the weekend as the Bearcats defeated Colgate and St. Bonaveture in back-to-back days. She won all four of her individual races in the 100 and 200 breast events and was a part of three relay winning teams.

1-14-14 | Jon Alkins - Men's Track & Field

The Binghamton University Athlete of the Week presented by Wells Fargo Advisors goes to Jon Alkins of the men’s track and field team. Jon had a pair of first place performances at the Southern Tier Collegiate Open this past weekend. Alkins broke the school record in the 60 (6.95) and was a part of the 4x400 relay team that finished first in Ithaca.

1-7-14 | Nick Tighe - Wrestling

Freshman wrestler Nick Tighe is Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week for Dec. 30- Jan. 5. Tighe had a strong showing at the Franklin & Marshall open on Saturday, winning five of six matches to place third at the 133 lb weight class. In the process he raised his season to 19-12 overall.

1-2-14 | Sherae Swinson - Women's Basketball

The Binghamton University Athlete of the Week is women’s basketball forward Sherae Swinson. The junior from Odenton, Md. led the Bearcats to a perfect 2-0 record at the Dartmouth/Blue Sky Classic over the weekend (their first in-season tournament championship since 2003). Swinson averaged 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in Hanover, including a 16-point performance in the championship victory over La Salle. For her efforts, Swinson was named MOP of the tournament.

12-17-13 | Julia Barac - Women's Basketball

The Binghamton University Athlete of the Week is senior women’s basketball player Julia Barac. Barac, a senior from Hamilton, Ontario, averaged 12.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in two games for the Bearcats. Against Rider, she tallied her first career double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.

Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week is sophomore basketball player Jordan Reed. Reed averaged 21.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games last week including a 26 point performance against No. 4 Syracuse. Reed was also named America East Co-Player of the Week.

The Binghamton University Athlete of the Week is senior wrestler Cody Reed. The senior from nearby Walton, N.Y. registered a perfect 3-0 week at the Journeymen/ASICS Northeast Duals.

11-26-13 | Tyler Deuel - Wrestling

Junior heavyweight Tyler Deuel is Athlete of the Week after capturing an individual title at the New York State Intercollegiate Championship over the weekend. Deuel went 4-0 with two pins and two technical falls. In the finals, he pinned his opponent in the third period to win the crown. Deuel is 8-3 early in the season and has a team-high three pins.

11-19-13 | Marlon Beck II - Men's Basketball

Binghamton University freshman guard Marlon Beck is the Athlete of the Week after averaging 19.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Bearcats. Beck helped guide Binghamton to a thrilling 89-79 comeback victory on the road at Cornell this past Wednesday, scoring a career-high 27 points off the bench. He drilled six three-pointers in that game, leading BU all the way back from a 19-point second half deficit.

11-12-13 | Grace Vickers - Volleyball

Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week is volleyball player Grace Vickers. The senior captain led the Bearcats to back-to-back straight set victories over Hartford and Providence in her final two home matches of her illustrious career. Vickers averaged 4.00 kills per set with a .513 hitting percentage to pull Binghamton’s record to .500 in conference play. For her efforts Vickers earned his first career America East Player of the Week honor.

11-4-13 | Vasili Papastrat - Men's Cross Country

Senior Vasili Papastrat placed a team-best fifth overall at the America East men’s cross country championship race, leading Binghamton to its first runner-up finish since 2010. Papastrat earned all-conference honors for the second time in three seasons, clocking a time of 25:13 on the men’s 8,000-meter course. Two years ago, he was ninth in the race before redshirting last season.

10-15-13 | Katherine Corcoran - Women's Soccer

The Binghamton Athlete of the Week for the dates of Oct.7-13 goes to sophomore forward Katherine Corcoran who guided the Bearcats to a 2-0 week, including a thrilling 3-2 OT win over AE leaders Maine this weekend. Corcoran tallied a goal and two assists in wins against Albany and the Black Bears. She has a team-leading three assists in 2013.

10-9-13 | Ismael Dinia - Men's Tennis

Men’s Tennis player Ismael Dinia has been named the Binghamton University Athlete of the Week for October 1-6. Dinia traveled to Tulsa and competed in the prestigious ITA All-America Championship, where he won two combined singles and doubles matches, including a straight-set singles win over the 72nd-ranked player in the country. It was his second win over a ranked opponent already this fall.

10-2-13 | Connie Gormley - Women's Soccer

Junior women’s soccer player Connie Gormely is Binghamton’s Athlete of the Week after leading the Bearcats to a pair of shutouts last week. Gormely helped Binghamton defeat Army 1-0 at West Point before opening up America East play at New Hampshire, battling the Wildcats to a 0-0 tie. Gormley headlines a backline that recorded its fourth and fifth shutouts last week.

9-24-13 | Sara Kohtz - Women's Tennis

The Binghamton Athlete of the week is sophomore tennis player Sara Kohtz. Kohtz went a perfect 3-0 in singles play over the weekend, winning the Black Flight at the Brown Invitational in Providence, R.I.. Kohtz is 4-1 this fall, and has improved her career tally to 18-13.

The Binghamton athlete of the week is junior tennis player Robin Lesage. Lesage went a perfect 4-0 in singles play over the weekend, securing a championship in his flight at the Princeton/Farnsworth Invitational. Lesage improved his overall singles record at Binghamton to 39-23 (.629).

9-10-13 | Bryce Edmister - Golf

Senior golfer Bryce Edmister secured a second-place finish at this past weekend’s Colgate Invitational, also in the process the two-time PING All-Region performer helped guide his team to a tournament title, their first in Hamilton since 2008. Edmister shot a 54-hole total of 217 (+1), just three strokes off the tournament winner’s final score. His runner-up finish is the third in a storied career for Edmister at BU.

9-4-13 | Stephani Church - Women's Soccer

Women’s soccer player Stephani Church has been named BU’s Athlete of the Week for Aug. 26-Sept. 1. Church scored the winning goal in the Bearcats’ 1-0 overtime victory at Iona. She beat her defender 1-on-1 and found the net just 2:53 into the extra session. Two nights earlier, Church assisted on BU’s game-winning goal to defeat Manhattan and her offensive production helped Binghamton (2-1) post a pair of road victories.

4-30-13 | Men’s Tennis - Men's Tennis

The Binghamton University men’s tennis team captured its sixth straight America East championship by defeating UMBC 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Bearcats used singles wins from Ismael Dinia, Ruben Haggai and the game clincher from freshman Sid Hazarika to claim victory over the Retrievers for their ninth title in 11 years competing in the conference. Junior Ruben Haggai was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after going a perfect 3-0 in competition. The Bearcats will advance to the NCAA tournament as the first round begins May 10-12.

4-24-13 | Jake Thomas - Baseball

Baseball player Jake Thomas has been named BU’s Athlete of the Week for April 15-21. Thomas hit .429 in five games during the week. He also belted the first home run in the new Bearcats Sports Complex ballpark in last Wednesday’s game against St. Bonaventure. Thomas leads the entire nation in on-base percentage and also leads the America East in four major hitting categories.

4-16-13 | Taylor Chaffee - Softball

Chaffee earned her second straight Rookie of the Week award by hitting .714 in the series against Maine. She went 5-for-7 at the plate and also drew three walks. In addition to hitting a grand slam in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, Chaffee added three doubles during the weekend. She finished with an on-base percentage of .800 and a slugging percentage of 1.571.

4-9-13 | Matt Springer - Men's Lacrosse

The Binghamton University Athlete of the Week is men’s lacrosse player Matt Springer. Springer scored six goals in the 14-13 OT win over Stony Brook this past weekend. He tied his career-high in goals which was set back in 2010 against the Villanova Wildcats.Springer now has 81 career goals and is just two points shy of becoming the second player to join the 100-point club at Binghamton.

Phillips hit a team best .500 (4-for-8) as the Bearcats took two out of three from Boston University as Binghamton opened one of its newest additions to the Bearcats Sports Complex.  Binghamton dropped game one to Boston University 3-2 before winning the next two by scores of 4-3 and 8-0.

3-27-13 | Katherine Hunsberger - Women's Lacrosse

Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week is women’s lacrosse player Katherine Hunsberger. The senior captain led the Bearcats to their first win of the season, scoring a game-high five goals in a 10-7 victory over Siena last week. In the process Hunsberger helped Binghamton snap a 14-game losing streak dating back to last season. Hunsberger leads the Bearcats with a team-high 15 goals and 30 draw controls on the season.

3-5-13 | Max Schefler - Men's Lacrosse

The Binghamton University athlete of the week is men’s lacrosse player Max Schefler. Schefler, a junior goalie on BU, tallied 15 saves in the Bearcats’ 6-2 win over visiting Hobart this past Saturday. He currently ranks third in the nation in save percentage (68.1) and fourth in saves per game (15.00). Earlier in the week, Schefler recorded a program-record 19 saves against fifth-ranked Cornell.

2-25-13 | Jasbriell Swain -

Jasbriell Swain is the BU Athlete of the Week for Feb. 25, 2013. She scored 11 points and added a game-high 12 rebounds, three steals and an assist in the women’s basketball team’s 55-42 win at New Hampshire on Feb. 23. She has now posted two straight double-doubles and has 12 such performances during her career. Swain ranks eighth all time in program history with 651 career rebounds and 10th with 204 career assists.

2-6-13 | Devin Zdanowski - Men's Swimming & Diving

Sophomore diver Devins Zdanowski is BInghamton University’s Athlete of the Week (Feb. 6) after a stellar performance against Marist (2/2/13). The all-conference performer recorded a resounding score of 341.15 on the three-meter board to qualify for the NCAA Zone competition in March. Zdanowski is just the third Binghamton diver to qualify for the competition and ranks second in the America East on the three-meter board and third on the one-meter.

1-30-13 | Donnie Vinson - Wrestling

Vinson, ranked No. 4 in the country at 149 pounds, pinned his only opponent during the week for an historic win. With his first-period fall Friday against CAA rival ODU, Vinson became the program’s all-time wins leader with 124 wins, surpassing the 123 set by former All-American Josh Patterson. Vincent is 124-25 in his brilliant career, including a 69-8 record in career duals. This season, the graduate student is 25-1 overall and a perfect 15-0 in duals.

1-23-13 | Jimmy Gray - Men's Basketball

Senior guard Jimmy Gray nailed a three-pointer from the left side with just two seconds remaining to give visiting Binghamton a thrilling 57-56 win over Maine in Orono. For his heroics Gray was named Binghamton’s Athlete of the Week for Jan. 23. Gray and his 14 points gave Binghamton its first road victory since Feb. 16, 2011 at Hartford and Tommy Dempsey his first America East win. Gray is no rookie when taking pressure shots, the senior captain nailed a shot with four seconds at Manhattan in 2010 and calmly sealed last year’s win over Vermont with a pair of swished free throws.

1-14-13 | Alexis Murray - Women's Track & Field

Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week is junior track and field athlete Alexis Murray. Murray, a long jumper from Bellerose, N.Y., swept the women’s long jump and triple jump titles, highlighting Binghamton’s performance at the Army 6-Way Indoor Track Meet this past Saturday.  Her distances were 18-0 in the long jump and 38-5 in the triple jump.

12-12-12 | Donnie Vinson - Wrestling

Fifth-year senior and all-american wrestler Donnie Vinson completed a perfect 2-0 week for the Bearcats as the team notched their first dual victories of the young season. Vinson is currently 8-0 in duals and 14-0 overall. The Marathon, NY native is ranked between 1-3 in his weight class amongst various national wrestling polls as he continues to climb up the program charts (second all-time in wins with 112).

11-28-12 | Binghamton University Athlete of the Week: Nate Schiedel - Wrestling

Redshirt senior wrestler Nate Schiedel is Binghamton’s Athlete of the Week for November 19 to November 25.  He went a perfect 3-0 at the Northeast Duels on Saturday and remains unbeaten on the season with a 9-0 record.  Schiedel currently ranks seventh in this week’s polls.

11-19-12 | Volleyball Team - Volleyball

Binghamton University’s women’s volleyball team earns this week’s Athlete of the Week honors after claiming the America East Championship over the weekend. The Bearcats defeated UMBC in five sets to earn a trip the championship match against hosts and number one seeded Albany. In the championship, Binghamton won in straight sets (25-17, 28-26 and 26-24) over the Great Danes, winning their third conference championship in school history and earning a bid to this year’s NCAA tournament. Junior Grace Vickers was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player and joined Iva Partaleva and Amanda Dettmann on the all-tournament team.

Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week is sophomore setter Amanda Dettmann.  Dettmann recorded her first career triple-double with 53 assists, 14 digs and 10 kills at Stony Brook.  She helped lead the Bearcats to a victory over the Seawolves to clinch the number two seed in the America East Championship Tournament.

10-23-12 | Kaitlyn Martin - Women's Soccer

Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week is junior forward Kaitlyn Martin. Martin helped guide the Bearcats to a pair of road victories this week, including a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over UMBC. This marked the second career goal for the Delmar, NY native who played in every single game this season for Binghamton.

10-17-12 | Amanda Dettmann - Volleyball

Binghamton University’s athlete of the week is sophomore volleyball player Amanda Dettmann. The second-year captain from Milwaukee, Wisconsin registered back-to-back 40 assist/10 dig matches leading BU to a 1-1 record last week, including a huge five set victory over America East foe Stony Brook. Dettmann is currently second in the conference in assists per set and her 1,858 assists already ranks fourth in Binghamton’s Division I history.

The Binghamton University Athlete of the Week goes to junior Bryce Edmister. Edmister shot a pair of even par 72’s over the weekend to claim a second place finish at the Bearcats first home event since 2007. He led the team with nine birdies over two rounds and earned his third top-10 finish of the fall season

Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week is sophomore men’s tennis player Florian van Kann. van Kann captured his singles flight at the Penn Invitational, winning all four matches, including a three-set victory over an opponent from Penn in the finals.

9-24-12 | Josh Holling - Golf

Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week is sophomore golfer Josh Holling. Holling helped guide the Bearcats to their fourth consecutive Cornell Invite Championship over the weekend and in the process earned individual medalist honors, beating out 74 other individuals. With back-to-back rounds of one-under, he becomes the first BU player since 2010 to win a tournament crown outright.

Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week is men’s soccer player Jake Keegan.  The senior forward scored the game-winning goal against UNC-Wilmington during the Hilton Gardens Inn Classic.  He was named the Offensive MVP of the tournament.  Keegan currently ranks in the top ten in the nation in goals per game and points per game.

Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week for September 3-9 is senior women’s soccer forward Sarah Furminger. She tallied the game-winning goal in BU’s dramatic 2-1 OT win over Siena on Friday. It was her team-leading fourth goal of the season and gave the Bearcats a 4-1 overall record- the program’s best start since 2008.

Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week is men’s soccer player Jake Keegan. Keegan helped Binghamton to a 2-1 record this past week, including wins over Army and Buffalo. Jake notched a pair of goals and assists over this three-game stretch and in the process became Binghamton’s all-time goals leader in Division I history, now with 20.

8-29-12 | Iva Partaleva - Volleyball

Binghamton University’s first athlete of the week for the 2012-13 academic year is volleyball player Iva Partaleva. The senior outside hitter was named to the all-tournament team at last weekend’s Boston College Invitational. During the two-day, four-match tournament, Partaleva recorded a team-high 56 kills, including a 20 kill/10 dig match in a losing effort against Siena. She also led the Bearcats to their first win of the 2012 campaign with a 17-kill outing in a sweep of Fordham where she recorded a .304 hitting percentage.

The Binghamton Men’s tennis team is this week’s Athlete of the Week. The Bearcats won their fifth straight America East championship after defeating UMBC over the weekend and now move on to the NCAA tournament. On Monday, it was announced that Binghamton will be heading to Oxford, Miss. to face 13th seeded Ole Miss in a first-round matchup on May 12th. Head coach Adam Cohen discusses the team’s upcoming match and what it means to the program.

BU went 3-1 over the weekend with Augliera helping the Bearcats earn a 3-1 victory in the series-opening game. He went seven innings with 10 strikeouts and no walks. Augliera is currently leading the nation in walks allowed per nine innings. He has walked just one batter in four starts (28 total innings).

3-21-12 | Donnie Vinson - Wrestling

Junior wrestler Donnie Vinson went 7-1 at the NCAA Championship to place third at 149 pounds and earn his first All-America honor. Vinson, seeded fourth, won seven consecutive matches at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis - the only wrestler out of 330 national participants to do so. It was the first time in six years that any NCAA Division I wrestler had won seven straight and only the fourth time in the last 14 years that the feat had been accomplished. Vinson finished his stellar junior season with a 40-5 record - the second-most of any wrestler in BU’s 42-year history.

3-12-12 | Kristen Stone - Women's Lacrosse

Junior women’s lacrosse player Kristen Stone earned Binghamton University Athlete of the Week honors with her performance against Marist. Kristen Stone had the game of her life and set a program record for goals in a game with seven as the Bearcats won a 17-16 overtime thriller. Stone had a great all-around game, winning seven draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover in addition to her seven goals. Stone and the rest of the team gear up to face Canisius in Buffalo on March 9th.

3-5-12 | Donnie Vinson - Wrestling

Binghamton University Athlete of the Week honors standout wrestler Donnie Vinson who captured the 149 pound title at the CAA wrestling championship, hosted by Binghamton on March 2nd. Donnie defeated Old Dominions Brennan Brumley in the semifinals and Justin Accordino of Hofstra to claim his first CAA title. Vinson, who is ranked #4 in the country at 149, was also named the conference’s most outstanding wrestler. Vinson will now begin to prepare for the national championships in St. Louis later in the month.

2-27-12 | Ben Waldron - Men's Lacrosse

Binghamton University Athlete of the Week, senior defender and team captain Ben Waldron was instrumental in the Bearcats season opening 10-8 win over Lafayette on February 24th.  Despite terrible weather that included, snow, hail and sleet, Waldron contributed a goal, ten ground balls and a program record eight caused turnovers. Waldron scored directly after the face off to give BU a quick 2-0 lead they never relinquished. The men’s lacrosse team faces nationally ranked Cornell on Tuesday in Ithaca.

2-20-12 | Justin Lister - Wrestling

Senior wrestler Justin Lister, who is ninth in the nation at the 157 pound weight class, earned Binghamton University Athlete of the Week honors from the dates of 2/13-2/19. Lister picked up his 100th career victory with a pin over Old Dominion’s Jacob Kingett Friday evening in just one minute and nine seconds. The former all-american is currently 23-5 this season and enters the CAA championships on March 3 as a two-time defending champion.

2-13-12 | Erik van Ingen - Men's Track & Field

After a great performance in the very prestigious Milrose games on February 7th, 2012, senior track star Erik Van Ingen is the Binghamton University Athlete of the week. Competing in the Wanamaker mile in the New York City Armory, Erik posted both a personal and school best time of 3:56.37 placing 5th in the event and second among the six college runners participating. With his performance in New York, Erik met all of the qualifications for the NCAA indoor championships, which will be held March 9-10 in Boise Idaho.

2-6-12 | Nolan Slesnick - Men's Swimming & Diving

Nolan Slesnick had a big week for the Bearcats earning Binghamton University Athlete of the week honors. The senior swimmer went out on top, winning three events as the Bearcat swim team swept conference rival Stony Brook 172-91 on his senior day, and final home meet.  The four year standout won the 1650 with a time of 16:00:27, setting a new pool record. Slesnick also won the 500 free (4:38.88) and 200 IM (1:57.56) to close out his career in his home water.

1-30-12 | Jimmy Gray - Men's Basketball

With his performances against Maine and Albany, Jimmy Gray earned Binghamton University athlete of the week honors. Gray scored a career-high 24 points against Maine on 1/28, leading all scorers. Gray was 10-16 from the field, hit three 3-pointers and added six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Jimmy had four points, five rebounds and five steals in a 74-68 loss against Albany on 1/25. He currently ranks in the top 50 in the nation for steals

1-25-12 | Andrea Holmes - Women's Basketball

Senior guard Andrea Holmes led Binghamton to a 2-0 week, including wins over UMBC and New Hampshire. Holmes averaged 17.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg and 2.5 spg over that two game span. Holmes, who currently is third all-time on the BU scoring list, is third in the America East in scoring at 14.4 ppg.

1-10-12 | Robert Mansell - General

Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week is sophomore men’s basketball player Robert Mansell. The second-year guard averaged 18.3 points in three conference games during the week. He shot 49 percent from the field and 80% from the free throw line while averaging 38 minutes per game. Mansell lifted his season scoring average to 14.3, which ranks seventh in the America East.

1-5-12 | Viive Rebane - Women's Basketball

Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week is senior women’s basketball player Viive Rebane. Over the weekend Rebane helped Binghamton to a second-place finish at the St. Peter’s Holiday Classic. During the Bearcats’ matchup with the host, Rebane notched her 1,000th career point, becoming the 14th player in BU’s history to eclipse the point total. Versus Maine on Monday night in BU’s conference opener, Rebane tallied a career-high 26 points and eight assists to lead the Bearcats to a 72-54 victory.

12-20-11 | Matt Kaylor - Wrestling

Kaylor, a senior member of the men’s wrestling team, went 4-2 at the Reno Tournament of Champions this past weekend. Kaylor, who was unseeded heading into the tournament, defeated the 13th ranked wrestler in the nation on the way to earning a fourth place finish. Kaylor moves to 14-4 on the season and even more impressively picked up his 100th career win as a Bearcat.

12-8-11 | Donnie Vinson - Wrestling

Junior 149-pound Donnie Vinson is BU’s Athlete of the Week for a second straight week, Nov. 28-Dec. 4. Vinson went 6-1 on the week, highlighted by a runnerup showing at the Penn State Nittany Lion Open. There, he went 5-1 with a pin and three major decisions before losing in the final to the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the nation. One day earlier, Vinson rolled to a 16-0 technical fall in a dual against Princeton - his seventh straight dual win against no losses. Vinson, 15-2 overall, also continued to climb in the national rankings. He is No. 4 in the latest WIN Magazine release and moved up to No. 7 in the Intermat rankings.

Junior wrestler Donnie Vinson is Binghamton University’s Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 21-27. The 149-pounder, ranked No. 10 at the time, dismantled the nation’s sixth-ranked wrestler, Ivan Lopouchanski, 18-2 in a technical fall. Vinson went 4-0 on the day with the tech fall and two major decisions. He improved to 9-1 overall, 6-0 in duals. Vinson is now ranked No. 6 in the WIN Magazine poll and No. 9 in both the Intermat and Open Mat polls.

11-23-11 | Orla O’Reilly - Women's Basketball

O’Reilly poured in a career-high 29 points at Siena on Tuesday, a 2011-12 America East season high, and posted five rebounds and five assists. The senior earned all-tournament status later in the week at the Minnesota/SUBWAY Classic while leading the Bearcats to a 1-1 weekend in St. Paul. Through four games, O’Reilly is averaging a team-best 18.5 points per contest. She has led Binghamton in scoring three times.

11-15-11 | Nick Gwiazdowski - Wrestling

Freshman wrestler Nick Gwiazdowski is Binghamton’s Athlete of the Week. Gwiazdowski pinned his first college opponent in Saturday’s dual win over George Mason. On Sunday, he notched two more pins, including a thrilling fall in the final. Trailing Cornell’s Jace Bennett 5-0 early in the match, Gwiazdowski battled back to even the score and then put Bennett on his back and ended the bout in 3:58 to win the BU Open title.

11-10-11 | Tim Cabasino - Men's Swimming & Diving

Junior swimmer Tim Cabasino swam to a pair of victories at defending Atlantic 10 champions UMass last weekend. Cabasino won the 50 free (21.71) and 100 free (48.28) in a BU defeat. Following back-to-back strong performances head coach Sean Clark believes Cabasino is on his way to becoming one of the elite swimmers in the America East.

Junior Cross Country runner Vasili Papastrat finished ninth at the America East championships and earned All-Conference honors for the first time in his career. Papastrat led a group of newcomers to a fourth place finish in Albany.

10-26-11 | Conor O’Brien - Women's Soccer

Sophomore women’s soccer player Conor O’Brien scored two goals to help the Bearcats win their final two games and earn a spot in the upcoming America East tournament. O’Brien scored both goals shortly after entering each game - first against Vermont and again in BU’s shutout win over UMBC. She was also named the America East Co-Player of the Week.

10-19-11 | Bastian Bornkessel and Ruben Devos - Men's Tennis

Binghamton University’s athlete of the week are men’s tennis double partners Bastian Bornkessel and Ruben Devos. The duo won four matches at the ITA Northeast Regional hosted by Cornell University last weekend. Bornkessel and Devos advanced to the semifinals, a first for a Binghamton pair since elevating to the Division I level. During their run the unseeded pair knocked off the ninth-seeded Princeton duo.

10-12-11 | Amanda Dettmann - Volleyball

Binghamton University’s athlete of the week is freshman volleyball player Amanda Dettmann. Dettmann led the Bearcats to a four-set victory over the Providence Friars last weekend, as BU earned their first America East win. Dettmann recorded a match-high 47 assists and set a new career-high with eight kills. She also contributed nine digs, two blocks and two aces.

Senior midfielder Taylor Kucharski played a key role in BU’s 3-0 win over Maine on Sunday. The four-year letterwinner notched an assist on the opening goal and netted her first collegiate goal in the second half to help the Bearcats pick up a big road win in the team’s conference opener.

9-21-11 | David Cellura - Golf

At the beginning of last week, junior golfer David Cellura accomplished something no other BU golfer has done in program history at the Maryland Intercollegiate. Cellura shot an opening round 66 (-5), singling the best opening round ever at Binghamton. His five-under par performance only sits behind recent graduate Jake Katz’s score of 66 (-6) back in April of 2010. Cellura finished tied for 12th with rounds of 66-75-70, totaling two under par for the tournament, a career-best mark for him.

9-13-11 | Iva Partaleva - Volleyball

Junior outside hitter Iva Partaleva helped the Binghamton volleyball team climb back to .500 with her performance at the Rutgers Invitational over the weekend. Partaleva was named the tournament MVP after recording 4.00 kills per set, including a 22 kill, six ace outing against Howard. Partaleva tallied 61 kills during the week, ten more than the 51 she recorded all of last season. Her 22-kill match against Howard was the first time a Bearcat eclipsed 20 kills this season.

9-7-11 | Grace Vickers - Volleyball

Sophomore middle hitter Grace Vickers led the Binghamton volleyball team to a pair of wins over the weekend against Howard and Holy Cross at the UConn Toyota Classic. BU advanced to the championship match against host Connecticut, but fell in straight sets. Vickers was named to the All-Tournament Team after sparking the Bearcats to the run to the title game.

8-30-11 | Jake Keegan - Men's Soccer

The first recipient of Binghamton University’s Athlete of The Week award for the 2011-12 season goes to Jake Keegan, a junior forward on the men’s soccer team. Jake scored one goal and one assist in the Bearcats 3-1 season opening victory over Bucknell on Aug. 26. Keegan’s three point night ties a career high and slides him up to seventh place in Binghamton’s Division I career goals list.
