For the second year in a row, Binghamton student-athletes teamed up with West Middle School students in the College For Every Student (CFES) Service Day, an America East-wide initiative. Over 30 BU student-athletes and middle school students joined together for some spring cleaning and yard work at the Danielle House, located across the street from Lourdes Hospital. Read more here

On Sunday, the BU women’s tennis squad contributed to the fight against breast cancer by walking in the Making Strides event at Recreation Park in Binghamton . The team raised over $500 dollars in which every dollar raised and every step taken will save lives by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back against breast cancer.

On September 11, the wrestling team spent nearly eight hours assisting flood victims in the Southern Tier. Three coaches and 10 wrestlers joined the Red Cross and National Guard in closing one emergency shelter and readying displaced individuals and families for transportation to a new shelter. The group loaded and unloaded donations at a local charity before heading out into the neighborhoods to help several individual families begin to clean up from the damage.

The Binghamton University men’s golf team lent a helping hand in the organization of the 10th annual Jim “Mudcat” Grant all-star golf tournament held at the Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, NY. All the proceeds generated from the tournament go to multiple organizations including The Broome County Urban League, The Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton, Catholic Charities and CHOW. Second-year assistant wrestling coach Jasen Borshoff recently participated in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) College Coaches Leadership Academy, held August 3-4 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. In its third year, the two-day program helps coaches strengthen their skills in all aspects of coaching. Borshoff attended the workshop after completing eight online educational modules, a program assessment survey and evaluation. He received a full scholarship to attend the Academy.
