VESTAL, N.Y.—More than 42 percent of Binghamton student-athletes earned a 3.3 or higher grade-point average for the fall semester. Director of Athletics Patrick Elliott announced that 179 student-athletes met the lofty 3.3 GPA threshold for the semester and have been recognized on the newly created Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
“We’re excited to kick off this important initiative,” Elliott said. “It highlights the academic commitment of our student-athletes and shows that their dedication on the playing field is matched with equal achievement in the classroom.”
The list of recipients on the AD Honor Roll includes members of all 21 of BU’s athletics teams. The release comes on the heels of two other crowning academic achievements from the fall. Last week, the America East released its own Academic Honor Roll and an eye-popping 72 percent of Binghamton’s fall sports athletes (70) were named for earning a 3.0 or higher GPA. The department also released its all-sports GPA and the 3.11 represented the highest fall semester GPA in 10 years and the 12th consecutive semester that Binghamton student-athletes surpassed the 3.0 plateau.
