New Haven, CONN—The Binghamton women’s tennis team completed their final fall tune-up play this weekend at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional hosted by Yale University. In total, BU sent four players to partake in both singles and doubles action.
Senior Jillian Santos highlighted the weekend for the Bearcats by racking up a second round singles victory over Fatya Amiri of St. Bonaventure 6-2, 6-3. Santos was upended by seventeenth seeded Elizabeth Epstein of Yale in the following round 5-7,6-3,6-2.
In doubles action, Santos and freshman Missy Edelblum were victorious in their opening round bout with a 9-8(7-3) win over Genkina/Fritzinger from Fordham. Santos and Edelblum later were eliminated by UMASS in the round of 32 by a score of 8-4. Binghamton returns to action once again in February when they take on the Pirates of Seton Hall.
