Bearcat Volleyball Blog
Week 3: Sept. 8 - Sept. 11
September 13, 2010
During the Binghamton volleyball non-conference tournament schedule, a different Bearcat will be writing a weekend blog discussing life on the road as a BU student-athlete.
This weeks blog was written by freshman walk-on Jordyn Suhr. BU got a non-conference road win over Niagara on Wednesday, then went 2-1 over the weekend at the UB Blue and White Classic. Next weekend, the Bearcats will be traveling to the nation’s capital to compete in the Georgetown Classic.
Our third tournament weekend started off with a game at Niagara
University, which we won in 5 sets. This game helped set the tone for the rest of the weekend at the University of Buffalo. We came away with two wins over Hampton and St. John’s and a hard loss to Buffalo. The 3-1 weekend definitely adds a positive outlook to the rest of theseason.
Off the court, we had a lot of free time to bond as a team. We went to the American falls and rode the Maid of the Mist. We also went out to eat at the Cheesecake Factory and Dave and Buster’s. The team also got to travel over the border to Canada and see the Canadian side of Niagara falls.
Like any other weekend, this one was not without some complications. A fire alarm briefly disrupted our game against Hampton and the bus breaking down on the way home was definitely not in the itinerary for the weekend. On the court, the team fought against some tough teams and worked hard to come out on top. There are definitely still things that we need to work and improve upon, but the team as a whole is developing
The team is really beginning to gel and everyone is very excited to see what this upcoming season will bring.
