VESTAL, N.Y. - After a strong performance in Binghamton’s win over Bryant, freshman guard Marlon Beck II has been selected as the America East Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. It’s the second honor this season for Beck.
In BU’s 67-62 win over Bryant, Beck contributed a double-double - his first collegiate - with 10 points and a season-high 10 assists. He added four steals and committed just one turnover in 37 minutes at the point. The 10 assists tied for the highest single-game output of any player in the America East thus far this season.
It was the second time this season Beck has earned the weekly honor and fourth time in seven weeks that Binghamton has produced the top rookie.
Beck ranks fifth in the America East in three-pointers made (1.9/game) and sixth in assists (2.8/game). He is averaging 11.8 points (2nd among AE freshmen) and leads the team in three-pointers (23) and assists (33). Beck is logging nearly 34 minutes per game.
