VESTAL, N.Y. – Over 75 BU student-athletes, representing all twenty-one teams on campus, took time out of their schedules to take part in the Athletic Department’s Thank-A-Thon. The student-athletes volunteered their time to make calls and write personal notes to donors of the Binghamton University Athletic Department.
“Our donors have been extremely generous in providing resources to help our programs compete at the highest level of Division I Athletics,” said Patrick Elliott, Director of Athletics. “Our student-athletes are the true beneficiaries of their support and it is only fitting that we connect the donor and recipients.”
The Thank-A-Thon consisted of two nights of phone calls to donors in early April as well as a night of writing thank-you-notes this past week. Both events took place in the Events Center.
“The Thank-A-Thon was a great way for us, the student-athletes, to show our appreciation for all of the generous donations that we received,” women’s basketball player Gintare Surdokaite said. “We truly appreciate all of their support.”
“Being in one big room with the rest of the Bearcat family and seeing all of them contribute in writing letters to thank all of our loyal supporters from all over the country was a truly great and heartwarming experience,” men’s soccer player Steven Shirokikh said.
Contributions to Binghamton Athletic Department are used to provide team and operational budget support, academic success programming, facility enhancements and the opportunity to travel and compete nationally.
