BU men’s basketball 2010-11 roster beginning to take shape

VESTAL, N.Y.—Binghamton’s men’s basketball roster is beginning to solidify as the 2010-11 school year draws near. While still on the recruiting trail, interim head coach Mark Macon has secured two newcomers and will welcome back four starters and six letterwinners from his 13-18 team of a year ago. That squad surprised many with its 8-8 America East record and fifth-place regular-season finish.

Signing to begin their careers at BU are freshmen Robert Mansell (Laverock, Pa./Cheltenham HS) and KJ Brown (Sicklerville, N.J./Living Faith Christian Academy).

Mansell, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound shooting guard, scored 1,215 career points at Cheltenham and chose BU over Rider, Quinnipiac and LIU. He averaged 19.8 points and 7.3 rebounds as a senior, earning first team All-Suburban One League American Conference honors for the second time. He became just the seventh player in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau, joining his two older brothers who went on to star at Rider.

Brown, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound point guard, originally verbaled to Army before that program experienced a coaching change. Brown was a standout at Living Faith Christian Academy before spending last year at West Point Prep. He averaged 14 points and 5 assists as a junior and was a two-time all-state selection in New Jersey.

The pair join a cast of returnees that includes first team America East all-star Greer Wright (15.0 ppg., 6.1 rpg.) and other starters Mahamoud Jabbi (6.8 rpg., 6.3 ppg.), Moussa Camara (10.7 ppg.) and Chretien Lukusa (7.1 ppg.) - each back for his final collegiate season. The return of 6-foot-9 junior center VESTAL, N.Y.—Binghamton’s men’s basketball roster is beginning to solidify as the 2010-11 school year draws near.
