VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton men’s soccer team has announced its home game promotional schedule for the 2014 season.
On Monday, the athletic department will hold its Welcome Back BBQ for all student-athletes at 4 p.m. at the Events Center. Immediately following that event is the Bearcats’ 5 p.m. home opener against Marist.
Binghamton’s game against Army on Sept. 10 will feature a tribute to all military personnel. Other home games will honor BU faculty & staff (Sept. 23 vs. Syracuse) and the university’s international students (Oct. 22 vs. Columbia). Details for all three of those games are still in the works.
The Bearcats will continue their support of the Red Card Cancer program at a pair of games this season (Sept. 13 vs. Cornell and Nov. 1 vs. Stony Brook). The match against Stony Brook will also serve as Senior Night.
On Oct. 4, the Bearcats’ America East opener against Hartford will serve as youth and team poster night. A Youth Day Clinic will also follow Binghamton’s Oct. 11 game against New Hampshire.
The game against New Hampshire has been moved to a 1 p.m. kickoff to accommodate Family Weekend at Binghamton University. In addition, it will also be a SUBWAY “Pack the House” game.
This year’s Homecoming game takes place on Oct. 18 against Vermont. It marks the fourth time since 2008 the Catamounts are the Homecoming Opponent. All three previous meetings have been decided by a single goal.
“We are thrilled with the home promotional schedule,” head coach Paul Marco said. “Overall, I think our department has done a very good job with it. We are looking forward to putting a good product on the field with an entertaining, fast style of play. We hope our home fans will really appreciate it.”
In addition to the single-game promotions this year, Binghamton has created a season ticket package for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams. A $20.00 season ticket comes with a Bearcat scarf to be used as an admission ticket for all men’s and women’s regular-season home games.
“What a terrific idea to have the scarf this year,” Marco said. “Our marketing department has come up with a great plan to boost the season ticket sales. It is a staple in the soccer world. Every great club in every country has a scarf. I am very happy we have unveiled our season ticket and scarf at the same time.”
