VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton softball team still has over a week to go before starting the 2014 season. On Monday, however, they were able to get a good dose of inspiration from Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion pitcher Jennie Finch.
Finch was in town for the CWA Luncheon but three hours before the event, she met with the Bearcats in the TAU Bearcat Room in the Events Center. The team had a chance to ask questions and Finch took time to find out how the team was doing.
“It was a great experience for our team to meet Jennie Finch,” head coach Michelle Burrell said. “It’s really great to hear her perspective not only on our sport, but where our sport is going and what she has taken away from being in softball.”
“Personally, this is a great way to start my senior year by getting to talk with someone I really look up to,” senior infielder Lisa Cutrona said. “We got the chance to ask questions that we’ve always wanted to ask. It really got us fired up to start the season.”
