BOSTON, Mass.—Fifth-year senior Erik van Ingen finished second overall in the 3,000, highlighting the Binghamton track & field teams’ performances at the Boston Terrier Invitational this past weekend. There was no team scoring kept at the meet.

van Ingen’s time of 7:56.21 broke his own school record of 7:58.72, which he set in the same meet last season. Furthermore, he nearly hit the NCAA Championship automatic mark of 7:52.30.  Iona’s Leonard Korir, the defending 5,000-meter NCAA indoor champion, finished first in 7:54.59.

Also at the meet, senior Nelson Hall tied for sixth place in high jump (6-4 3/4). On the women’s side, sophomore Erika Kisel finished third in the 500 (1:16.98) and Kaitlin Sullivan placed fifth in the 60 hurdles (8.90).

Binghamton sent its top throwers and jumpers to the Penn State National Invitational, which was also held this past weekend. Senior Eric VanAernam tied for sixth in the men’s pole vault (15-1) while junior Jenna Marrione was eighth in the women’s event (11-5 3/4).

Up next for Binghamton is the Collegiate Invitational, which will be held at the New York City Armory Feb. 3-4.
