VESTAL, N.Y. – For the third time this season, freshman first baseman Lisa Cadogan has been honored by the America East. One week after being named the conference’s Player of the Week, she was named the Rookie of the Week for the second time this year.
Cadogan continued her steller rookie campaign by going 4-for-9 (.444) with two home runs and six RBI as Binghamton finished 3-0 at the Radford Invitational this past weekend. In the process, she extended her hitting streak to a team-best 10 games and raised her batting average to a team-high .386.
Cadogan’s on-base percentage this week was .400 and her slugging percentage was 1.111. She belted a two-run home run in the Bearcats’ first win over Radford on March 23 and added a three-run shot in Binghamton’s other win over the Highlanders.
“Lisa continues to do a great job for us at the plate,” head coach Michelle Burrell said. “I thought she and Jessica Bump set the tone early on in the games and the rest of our hitters kept up the momentum. We went up to the plate with a lot of confidence this weekend.”
For the season, Cadogan has a team-best six home runs and 21 RBI. In addition, she also leads the Bearcats with seven doubles, 47 total bases and a .825 slugging percentage.
Two weeks ago, Cadogan was also named the America East Rookie of the Week.
Binghamton (9-9) has won seven of its last nine games. The Bearcats were scheduled to be at George Washington University on Tuesday but that doubleheader has been postponed.
The 2013 home opener remains scheduled for Thursday at 3 p.m. against Niagara.
