VESTAL, N.Y.—Freshman first baseman Lisa Cadogan has been named the America East Softball Player of the Week. She earned the accolade by virtue of her performance at the James Madison Invitational this past weekend.
Cadogan hit a team-best .500 in leading Binghamton to a 2-1 finish. She homered once, drove in a team-best seven runs and finished with a 1.000 slugging percentage. Cadogan, who leads the team in hitting (.375), home runs (four) and RBI (15), also has a team-best, seven-game hitting streak. In addition, she has also homered in four of the past six games.
This marks the second straight week that Cadogan has been honored by the America East. She was the Rookie of the Week last week. Cadogan is also the first Binghamton freshman to be named the conference’s Player of the Week since current senior Jessica Phillips was tabbed on May 3, 2010.
“Lisa continues to do a great job for us,” head coach Michelle Burrell said. “Her consistency at the plate has been pretty remarkable for a freshman.”
Binghamton (6-9) heads to the Radford Tournament this coming weekend. The Bearcats have won four of their past six games.
