VESTAL, N.Y.—The Binghamton Athletic Department inducted 19 student-athletes into the National College Athlete Honor Society (Chi Alpha Sigma’s) Monday Night in the TAU Club Room of the Events Center. This marks the seventh year that the athletic department has held inductions.
In order to be eligible for induction into Chi Alpha Sigma, a student-athlete must have achieved junior academic standing by their fifth semester, have at least a 3.4 cumulative grade point average and have earned at least one varsity letter in a sport sponsored by the NCAA.
Binghamton swimmers junior Mark Cereste and sophomore Colin Figus were among the 19 honored. With their nominations the pair gives the men’s swimming and diving program 12 total student-athletes to gain entry into the prestigious group.
“We would like to congratulate these student-athletes on receiving this elite national award” Binghamton Athletic Director Patrick Elliott said. “They truly embody the term student-athlete and they are a shining example of excellence.”
Since 2006, 201 Binghamton student-athletes have been inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma.
