New Baseball Complex planned for 2012
The Bearcats will soon be playing in a state-of-the-art complex as the University embarks on a multi-million dollar reconstruction of the current Varsity Field. Construction began in the fall of 2011 and will be complete prior to the 2013 season. The new facility, reconfigured in the same location as the existing field, will feature many amenities, including:
- New natural grass surface with irrigation, drainage and professional-grade infield dirt
- Stadium seating
- Professional-style sunken dugouts
- Bullpens located behind the outfield fence
- 30-foot center field batters eye
- Press box and sound system
- Wired for future lights
“This new facility will be a tremendous boost to our program. It will be one of the premier facilities in the region and give our student-athletes every opportunity to develop their skills and reach their full potential. The new facility is further evidence of the commitment our campus and athletics administration is making to the baseball program.”
-Head Coach Tim Sinicki
