VESTAL, N.Y.—Former pitching ace Scott Diamond took the loss in the Twins 6-0 loss Wednesday night versus the Chicago White Sox. Diamond (3-1, 1.78 ERA) scattered nine hits, gave up five runs (2 earned) and struck out four in six innings of work.

Well-established Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was complementary of Diamond after the game, stating the Twins sloppy defensive play didn’t do him any favors. “He threw the ball well. Unfortunately, we didn’t make some plays behind him,” Gardenhire said of Diamond. “We made him throw a few extra pitches, and made him work a little bit harder. We did turn some double plays behind him and got him out of a few jams, but I thought he was good.”
