Edelman selected to compete in ITA/Riviera Women’s All-American Tennis Championships
Senior was nationally ranked in singles and doubles play during 2009-10 season

VESTAL, N.Y.—Senior Anna Edelman has been selected to compete in the ITA/Rivera Women’s All-American Tennis Championships, which will take place Oct. 2-10 at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, California. She is the first player from Binghamton ever to be selected for the event.
Edelman, who was ranked as high as No. 120 in the ITA Division I singles rankings during the 2009-10 season, will start off in the prequalifying singles round. There are 64 players in the prequalifying singles round. Fifty-six other players were selected to start off in the qualifying singles round while the top 24 players earned slots in the main draw.
“I was excited to hear that Anna was picked for this prestigious tournament,” first-year head coach Libby McGovern said. “There will be a lot of great players from all over the country. Anna is looking forward to the challenge and competing at this high level.”
“It is an immense privilege to be recognized for the ITA All-American Tournament,” Edelman said. “I am looking forward to representing Binghamton University.
Edelman, was also ranked as high as No. 56 in doubles play last year, has been the team MVP in two of the last three years. She went 17-3 in singles dual matches her junior season and was named first-team America East all-conference in both singles and doubles play.
Binghamton opens up its 2010-11 season this weekend at the Cornell Fall Invitational.
