VESTAL, N.Y.—Former Binghamton University men’s basketball coach Dick Baldwin passed away Thursday in Tampa, Fla., at age 90. Baldwin coached 45 years and amassed an incredible 961 wins - the first 879 coming in 40 years for nearby Broome Community College.

In 1991, Baldwin was hired out of retirement to take over a struggling BU men’s basketball program. In five seasons, his Colonials notched 82 wins and produced the three most successful seasons in the program’s Division III history, highlighted by a 23-7 campaign in 1993-94. He was inducted into BU’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006 and also is a member of the NJCAA and New York State Basketball Halls of Fame.
