Golf Completes Opening Round Of Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate
Edmister scores 72 (+2) on Sunday for 16th place Bearcats

WILLIAMSBURG, VA.—The Binghamton golf team shot an opening round 304 (+24) at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary on Sunday. After round one action, Binghamton finds themselves in a tie for 16th place out of 27 schools competing at the River Course at Kingsmill Resort.
Senior Bryce Edmister led the way for BU, carding a 72 (+2) in Williamsburg. Edmister opened up his round on the back-nine and got off to a strong start. He birdied the par 4 10th hole and managed to collect another birdie on the long par 5 15th to jump to -2. A double bogey at 18 brought him to even after his first nine holes as he made the turn.
On the front, Edmister got back to red numbers after a birdie on two but fell into some trouble down the stretch. Over the next six holes, he gave four strokes back but was able to birdie his 18th and final hole to get back to +2. He sits in a tie for 15th place on the leaderboard as himself and the field of 140 chase leader Carter Jenkins of UNCG who shot -2 on Sunday.
With a 76 (+4), Jack Sedgewick finished round one with BU’s next best score. Sedgewick managed just one birdie but was able to register a team-high 12 pars on Sunday. At +4, the junior is tied with 10 others in 65th.
Eastern Michigan and 50th ranked Texas Tech are atop the leaderboard heading into second round play. Both schools shot a team score of 288 (+8) and are five strokes clear of third place schools Dayton, 48th ranked UNCG and hosts William and Mary.
Second round tee times begin at 8:30 tomorrow morning for the Bearcats as all 27 schools will play 18 holes from Kingsmill Resort.
