Golf Wraps Up First Day Action At Rutherford Intercollegiate
Sedgewick fires second round 69 (-2) to pace Binghamton on Saturday

State College, Pa.—The Binghamton golf team concluded both the first and second rounds of play at the Rutherford Intercollegiate hosted by Penn State. BU shot a 36-hole total of 589 (+21), finishing up the second round from the Penn State Blue Course on Saturday afternoon in 11th place.
Junior Jack Sedgewick had the scorecard of the day for the Bearcats, firing a 69 (-2) during second round action. Sedgewick was out in 33, making a string of birdies on holes 4-6. The Ontario native finished the back-nine making par on 8-of-9 holes for a career-low round of two-under par. He shot a 77 (+6) in his opening round and currently is in a tie for 19th place out of 77 individuals.
Finishing one stroke behind Sedgewick following Saturday’s play is senior Bryce Edmister. Playing from Binghamton’s top spot, Edmister put together rounds of 74 and 73 from the Blue Course on the campus of Penn State University. Out of the 36 holes he played, he made par on 24 holes and birdie on an additional four.
Sophomore Jesse Perkins got off to his best 36-hole performance of the season, registering a 142 (+6) from State College. Perkins played well on the front nine on Saturday, shooting just one-over for the day, and collecting par on 17-of-18 holes.
The Bearcats received a strong second round from freshman Kyle Wambold, the talented newcomer shot 72 (+1) and played the par fives on Saturday afternoon at -1. Wambold is +8 after 36 holes.
After two rounds, Minnesota holds the team lead by 9 strokes with a 36-hole total of 564. Although they sit in 11th place, Binghamton is just seven strokes off third-place Army and Eastern Michigan heading into Sunday.
Final round play begins with tee times at 8:00 a.m. from the par 71 Penn State Blue Course.
