BEARCATS ON A ROLL
The Bearcats head into Monday’s first round of the America Sky Championship having won back-to-back tournaments to close out regular season play. Most recently, Binghamton overcame a 14 stroke deficit with a final round 287 (+3) that propelled them to the team title at the Rutherford Intercollegiate on Sunday afternoon. No player shot worse than 74 on Sunday, led by sophomore Josh Holling who fired a 70 (-1) at the Penn State Blue Course. Junior Bryce Edmister tallied Binghamton’s best showing over the weekend, finishing in 10th place with a 54-hole total of 223. Holling (T-15), sophomore Jack Sedgewick (T-17) and freshman Jesse Perkins (T-22) rounded out the BU lineup in what was their third victory of the 2012-13 campaign.

BINGHAMTON BRIEF
The Bearcats have six top-5 finishes this season, headlined by their wins at the Cornell Invite, Mount St. Mary’s Invitational and Rutherford Intercollegiate. Josh Holling won individual medalist honors at the Cornell Invitational this fall with a two-day total of 142 (-2) and junior Bryce Edmister picked up a pair of runner-up finishes this season at the top of BU’s lineup. Edmister and Holling have combined for nine top-10’s and four top-20 finishes as the Bearcats have a scoring average of 299.8 as a team. Underclassmen Jack Sedgewick and Jesse Perkins have solidified themselves as key performers this spring, each picking up a pair of top-20 finishes. Sedgewick guided the Bearcats to a win at last week’s Mount St. Mary’s Invitational with a 54-hole score of 217 (+1). Senior David Cellura also has been consistent this season, finishing second on the team in scoring average (75.8). He recorded his best finish in his standout four-year career here at the Mount St. Mary’s Invite (T-4).

AMERICA SKY HISTORY
Last season, BU had a disappointing finish at the conference tournament by their standards, finishing 9th of 12 teams. A final round 340 put them out of the hunt as they wrapped up the 54-hole event with a final score of 968 (+104). ’12 graduate Mike Surdey was Binghamton’s best finisher, tying for 20th place out of 60 competitors. The Bearcats have yet to claim an America Sky Tournament championship since joining the conference in 2007. Their best finish came in the spring of 2011 when they finished fourth. Individually, the Bearcats recorded back-to-back fifth place finishes with Andrew Marler in 2009 and Jake Katz in 2010.
