Raleigh, N.C— The Bearcats shot a final round team score of 307 (+19) to remain at 13th place and finish out their regular season at the Wolfpack Spring Open Sunday afternoon at Lonnie Poole GC in Raleigh, North Carolina. Sophomore Bryce Edmister put together an outstanding round of three-under par to pace the Bearcats with a seventh place individual finish. Host North Carolina State took home the team title with a two-day total of 577 (+1), while Lamar’s Luke Jerling took home the individual crown with a 36-hole score of five-under par.
Edmister, who joined three others at the seventh spot, shook of an up-and-down opening nine holes to register a four-under 32 on the front nine. The second-year lefty was an incredible five-under par through 16 holes and had a minor let down, bogeying his final two holes. For Edmister, this was his third top-10 finish of the season, which is a team-high.
Junior David Cellura was the next highest BU competitor in line scoring a 36-hole total of 154 (+10). Like Edmister, the junior shook of a tough opening nine holes (+5), to finish out with seven pars and a pair of birdies (both on par fives).
With all of their regular season tournaments completed, the Bearcats now shift their attention to the America Sky Championship played at Lake of Isles GC in North Stoninigton, Conn. from April 30-May 2. The team-winner earns a berth to the NCAA championships for the first time since the league’s inception in 2007.
