VESTAL, N.Y. – Although their collegiate athletic careers have come to an end, over 70 student-athletes got to celebrate the culmination of their academic endeavors at Binghamton University. Commencement ceremonies were held Saturday and Sunday at the Events Center.
“We are very proud of all of our graduating student-athletes,” Athletic Director Patrick Elliott said. “They have represented our university well and we are sure that they will accomplish great things in the future.”
For the BU student-athletes, meanwhile, graduation day was a chance to reflect back on what their four years at Binghamton University has meant to them.
“Growing up in New York, it was seen as a great honor to be accepted into Binghamton and that’s exactly what it has meant to me,” softball player Colleen Dougherty said. “It’s been such an honor to share the field and the classroom with some of the greatest athletes and friends I will ever know.”
“If I had to put one word on my experience at Binghamton, it would be exceptional,” women’s track captain Erika Kisel said. “In four short years, Binghamton has become my home away from home. I have had four years of happiness with amazing friends, a great track program and an education that allows me to pursue a career that I love.”
