VESTAL, N.Y. – Freshman outfielder Sydney Harbaugh has been named the America East Conference Softball Rookie of the Week. In addition, senior pitcher Kate Price took home Pitcher of the Week honors. Both of them were chosen based on their performances at this weekend’s Florida International/ Felsberg Memorial Tournament.
Harbaugh hit a team-best .365, going 5-for-11 at the plate. She hit safely in all three games and went 2-for-3 against Florida International. With two walks and one time being hit by a pitch, Harbaugh recorded an on-base percentage of .533.
“Sydney had a great opening tournament,” head coach Michelle Burrell said. “She put together great at bats all weekend and her speed is such an asset to have.”
Price, meanwhile, Price hurled 6 1/3 innings without allowing an earned run in two appearances last week. The senior right-hander allowed six hits, three unearned runs while striking out eight batters and not yielding a walk.
“I thought Kate and the rest of our pitching staff did a nice job this past weekend,” Burrell said. “They showed great composure on the mound and kept us in all of the games.”
Binghamton (1-3) heads to the Arizona State Tournament March 2-4.
