VESTAL, N.Y.—Seniors Jessica Hennig and Jason Santos have been named to the 2013 America East Indoor Track All-Academic Squad. Each of them earned the distinction as a result of their performances at the recent conference championship meet as well as their overall academic records.
Hennig was second in the women’s 400 at the America East Indoor Championships, which were held Feb. 11-12 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. This marks her third consecutive appearance on the conference’s Indoor Track All-Academic Team. Last spring, Hennig was also named to the America East Outdoor Track All-Academic Team.
In the classroom, Hennig has been named to the America East Academic Honor Roll every season during her career at Binghamton. In 2011, she was inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society.
Santos, meanwhile, placed fourth in the men’s 5,000 at the America East Indoor Championships. This marks his first appearance on an All-Academic Team during the track season. In 2011, Santos was named to the America East Cross Country All-Academic Team.
Like Hennig, Santos has been named to the America East Academic Honor Roll each year during his career at Binghamton. In 2011, he too was inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society.
In order to be eligible for the America East All-Academic Teams, a student-athlete must have an overall GPA of 3.3 and have been a key performer at the recent America East Conference Meet.
Binghamton has concluded its indoor track campaign and will open the 2013 outdoor season on March 30 at the Raleigh Relays.
