VESTAL, N.Y.—Sophomore Jessica Hennig has been named the America East Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. It marks the first time in her career that she has received the weekly conference accolade.
Hennig, meanwhile, broke her own school record in capturing the women’s 400 on Sunday at the Cornell Big Red Invitational. Her first-place time of 55.43 eclipsed her 2010 mark of 56.09 and is the fastest outdoor time record in the conference this season.
Hennig has won the past two America East Indoor titles in the 400 and will seek her first outdoor crown next week. The two-day conference meet starts Saturday at UMBC.
The Binghamton women’s track & field team has now earned two weekly honors during the past three weeks. Sophomore pole vaulter Jenna Marrione was the America East Field Athlete of the Week on April 20.
