VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton women’s lacrosse head coach Stephanie Allen announced the addition of Brittany Howard to her coaching staff for the 2014 season, Friday afternoon. Howard arrives in Vestal just in time for the beginning of camp with the Bearcats, which began last Saturday. Howard replaces former assistant coach Brittany Brigandi who decided to leave the program following the fall ball season.

“We are thrilled to welcome Britt to the Binghamton lacrosse family,” Allen said. “Britt’s knowledge of the game in addition to her experience playing at such an elite level will certainly help bring out the best in our student-athletes.  I look forward to seeing her build relationships and aiding the development of our players over the coming months.”

Howard arrives from Adrian College in Michigan where she spent the past eight month as an assistant coach for the Division III program. During her time at Adrian, Howard was responsible for recruiting, team budgeting, practice plans and co-directed the Adrian College Lacrosse Camp. She also worked with the athletic department’s game management staff.

The Oswego native played collegiately at Limestone College (Gaffney, S.C.), the alma mater of Allen. While at Limestone, Howard led the Saints to a pair of NCAA Division II title games and four straight Conference Carolinas regular season and tournament championships. Limestone advanced to the NCAA tournament each of the four years Howard competed.

Howard, a two-time team captain, registered a 73-8 career record while at Limestone starting 77 of 81 contests in her four seasons. The four-year starter at midfield scored 78 goals and handed out 17 assists in a Saints uniform. As a sophomore, Howard was a second-team all-conference selection and garnered National Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and All-American honors.

Equally gifted off the field, Howard was a three-time selection to the Conference Carolinas All-Academic Team. Following the 2013 season, she was named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) honor roll. In 2012 Howard was inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma.

Howard graduated with bachelor’s degree in strength and conditioning with a minor in athletic coaching from Limestone College in 2013.
