Vestal, N.Y.—Junior diver Kimberly Robertson was named America East Diver of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Robertson becomes the first Binghamton swimmer or diver to win a weekly award this season.
“Having Kim back in our lineup has really helped add to the depth of our team,” head coach Sean Clark said. “She gives us a number one threat on the boards and its exciting to see her rack up first place finishes.”
In two dual meets over the weekend, Robertson came away with three victories for the Bearcats. After finishing fourth in the 1M at Colgate, she bounced back with a first-place score of 222.07 in the 3M. The following day, the Horseheads, N.Y. native put forth another impressive performance, sweeping the boards at Patricia A. Saunders Aquatic Center against St. Bonaventure. She defeated the visiting Bonnies with scores of 208.74 and 220.73 in the 1 and 3M boards, respectively.
Her 18 points on Saturday were crucial in the 180-120 victory over St. Bonaventure on Saturday. After missing fall competition, Robertson has made a positive impact on the BU squad by collecting season-high scores in the 1M (208.74) and 3M (222.07).
Binghamton has a week off from dual meet competition before returning to Patricia A. Saunders Aquatic Center on Saturday, Feb. 1 against Marist. This will be the last regular season meet for Binghamton as they get set to honor their six seniors in what will be their final home meet. The America East Championships held in Worcester, Mass. on Feb. 13-16 conclude the 2013-14 campaign for the BU women.
