Men’s Lacrosse Announces Incoming Freshmen Class For 2013 Season
Class of 2016 consists of 14 student-athletes to join program in the fall

Vestal, NY—Head coach Scott Nelson announced his first recruiting class at Binghamton signing 14 incoming players for the upcoming 2013 spring campaign. This group offers a sizable amount of versatility, specifically on offense, where six midfielders and four attackers are set to join the program.
“This year’s recruiting class is an athletic and skilled group that has a bright future ahead of them,” Nelson said. “We added great depth to both sides of the ball with this group and I am certainly excited to put them to work beginning this fall.”
Christopher Bechle- 6-0/200- D- Fairport, NY
A three-year starter and two-time captain on the defensive back line at Fairport High School. Chris earned first-team all-league honors (Monroe County Division I) and was an All-Rochester honorable mention selection during his junior season in 2011. Was a member of two section V Class A titles and helped guide Fairport to a runner-up finish during the NYS Class A Championships in 2010. Also, being a scholar-athlete, Bechle was a member of the National Honor Society.
Joey Dalfo– 5-8/178–M– Syracuse, NY
(Christian Brothers Academy)
Played four years (three-time captain) in the midfield at nearby CBA. A two-time all-league performer (OHSL), who most recently was honored as a first-team midfielder this past spring. Following an impressive junior campaign, Joey was honored as an Under Armour Underclassmen All-American. In 2012, he registered 56 points (33g, 23a) on his way to racking up 120 points for his career. In the classroom, Dalfo was a high honor roll student at CBA.
George Deignan– 6-2/185–D–Huntington, NY
(Saint Anthony’s HS)
Was a two-year letterwinner at national powerhouse Saint Anthony’s on Long Island. He was part of back-to-back NSCHSAA championship teams playing alongside fellow BU commit and midfielder Brendon Hurley.
Bucky Desadier– 6-1/185–A–Conroe, Texas
(Houston Christian HS)
Was a four-year starter at Houston Christian High School in Texas. Earned All-American honors (US Lacrosse) after finishing his senior campaign with 46 goals and 51 assists. Guided team to a 17-4 season in 2012 and a trip to the state semifinals. As a junior, he collected 92 points and earned his first All-District selection. Wrapped up career with a school-record 254 points. Also played basketball and football during high school.
TJ DiSanto– 5-11/170–M–Victor, NY
(Victor Senior HS)
Played all four years in the midfield at Victor Senior HS. A two-time all-league selection (Monroe Conty Division II), including a spot on the second team this past season. Scored 23 goals and dished out 12 assists during senior campaign for a total of 64 career points. In 2011, TJ was named to the Nike Upstate rising senior team as an alternate.
Sean Finnigan– 5-11/165–D–Stony Brook, NY
(Ward Melville HS)
Competed all four years on the back line at Ward Melville High School on Long Island. Sean was a Suffolk All-County selection as a senior defender. This past year, he helped advance Melville to the Suffolk County Class A Championship game, falling to eventual NYS Class A champs West Islip.
Eric Fischer– 5-7/140–GK–Rochester, NY
Was a four-year letterwinner and two-year starter at Irondequoit High School. A US Lacrosse Academic All-American, Fischer also was an All-Section V and All-Monroe county first-team member as a senior. As a captain, he guided Irondequoit to a 19-3 record in 2012 and a trip to the NYS Class B Championship game where they fell to the number one ranked team in the nation (Garden City). He compiled an impressive 343 saves over his career and had a save percentage of nearly 60 percent.
Brendon Hurley– 5-11/165–M– Saint James, NY
(Saint Anthony’s HS)
Was a key member of Saint Anthony’s back-to-back NSCHSAA championship teams in 2011-12 (finished fifth in final national power rankings according to Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse). One of 16 players to sign Division I & II letter of intents from St. Anthony’s (including BU teammate George Deignan). As an honor roll student, Brendon also was an all-league performer in hockey leading Saint Anthony’s to a perfect 23-0 record and state championship during his senior year.
Mitchell Labianca– 5-6/165– M/FO–Miller Place, NY
(Miller Place HS)
A three-year starter at Miller Place HS on Long Island. As a senior captain and face-off specialist, scored 11 points (7g, 4a) in 2012. Led his team in ground balls, including a face-off percentage of over 60 percent. Also lettered in wrestling, cross country, soccer and football during time at Miller Place.
Johnny Maher– 5-9/165–M–Islip, NY
A prolific scorer and five-year letterwinner at Islip High School. Scored 30 goals and 15 assists in 2012, registering a school-record 200 points over his storied career for the Buccaneers. Earned Suffolk All-County honors in both lacrosse and football.
Brian Martin– 5-10/155–M–Fairport, NY
Was a four-year letterwinner at section V power Fairport High School. Guided team to school-best record of 20-1 in 2012 and a trip to the state semis. Tallied 55 points in 2012 (28 g, 27 a), earning a spot as a first-team All-Monroe county player. Made second-team All-County after scoring 28 goals during junior campaign. Played with fellow Binghamton commit Chris Bechle. Recently selected to play in US Lacrosse Herb Fitch All Star Game (2012).
Mitch Rick– 6-2/190–A–Watertown, NY
A three-year starter on attack at Watertown HS. Mitch was twice named to the first-team of the Frontier League all-star team. Was the All-North division MVP and team captain in 2012 after scoring a program-record 103 points (67g, 36a). Wrapped up career with an impressive 176 points. A member of the National Honor Society, Rick was also a standout and all-league performer in soccer.
Zachary Scaduto– 5-11/175– A–Rockville Centre, NY
(South Side HS)
Was a three-year starter at South Side High School. A two-time All-County Selection, Scaduto captained the squad for two years, including winning the team MVP award during his senior year. Finished his career 11th in school history with 126 points (91 goals, 35 assists). A member of the National and Spanish Honor Society, Scaduto was also an all-conference football player at South Side.
Dallas Smith– 6-2/175–A–Alberta, Canada (Sherwood Park)
(Vimy Ridge Academy)
Four-year letterwinner at Vimy Ridge Academy in Alberta, Canada. Was an all-star attackman at the U-16 Alumni Cup in 2008. An honors student in high school, Dallas also played basketball for Vimy Ridge.
Binghamton, who finished the 2012 season with a 4-9 (1-4 AE) record, loses seven players to graduation, but returns six starters from a team who scored a program record 9.54 goals per contest.
