VESTAL, N.Y.— For the ninth time in 11 years, the Binghamton men’s soccer program has earned team academic honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The NSCAA listed the Bearcats among its Team Academic recipients for producing a 3.0 or higher GPA during the 2012-13 school year. Binghamton’s collective GPA was a 3.20.
“I’m very proud of our guys’ achievements in the classroom,” head coach Paul Marco said. “This is a great honor for our team as it demonstrates the collective quality they have in the classroom. We have some great student athletes and this award demonstrates those qualities.”
The Bearcats’ most accomplished student-athlete is junior midfielder Ben Nicholson, who was named to the America East All-Academic Team earlier this month. He holds a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA.
The Binghamton women’s soccer team also earned team academic honors for the 2012-13 academic year, giving Binghamton the distinction of having both squads honored by the NSCAA.
