Men’s tennis finishes at ITA Men’s Regional
Lesage, Dinia win singles matches; Dinia/Bornkessel post doubles win

VESTAL, N.Y.—Two Binghamton men’s tennis singles players and one doubles team advanced one round to highlight the Bearcats’ showing at the ITA Northeast Regional Championship, hosted by Yale.
Sophomores Robin Lesage and Ismael Dinia both posted victories in opening singles matches to reach the Round of 64. Lesage toppled Phil Nelson of Boston College, 6-4, 6-3. Dinia earned a three-set win over Elliott Fanschel of St. Bonaventure, 2-6, 6-0, 6-0. In the second round, Lesage dropped a 6-3, 6-4 match to No. 8 seed Ashok Narayana of Columbia. Dinia, meanwhile, suffered a 7-6, 6-2 setback to No. 17 seed Andy Nguyen of Harvard.
In doubles, Dinia and senior Bastian Bornkessel notched an 8-5 win over a team from Harvard to advance to the Round of 32. The pair then dropped an 8-1 match to an unseeded pair from Buffalo.
The remaining two BU singles players, Ruben Haggai and Florian van Kann, suffered first-round losses and then notched one win apiece in the consolation draw.
