Men’s tennis edged by No. 51 Central Florida 4-3
Bearcats split six singles matches but UCF grabs doubles point for margin

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Binghamton men’s tennis (10-6) pushed No. 51 Central Florida (10-3) to the wire in a 4-3 loss Thursday afternoon from UNC-Wilmington’s campus courts. The match was part of a “Battle at the Beach” round-robin that also includes Yale and the host Seahawks.
The Bearcats lost the doubles point after the Knights grabbed an 8-7 win in the deciding match at No. 2. The teams then split the six singles matches with BU earning wins at Nos. 1, 5 and 6.
Sophomore Sid Hazarika posted a three-set win at the top spot for his ninth dual win of the spring. Also winning were sophomore Eliott Hureau and senior Florian van Kann - each in straight sets. Hureau ran his team-best singles record to 19-8 overall, 12-3 in duals.
Binghamton remains in Wilmington to face Yale on Friday and then the 55th-ranked hosts on Sunday.
