WEST POINT, N.Y.—Binghamton men’s tennis (6-10) came up short in its match against a strong Yale team Sunday afternoon, falling 5-2 at Army’s Lichtenberg Tennis Center. The teams played the singles matches on Saturday with the Bulldogs (11-5) capturing four of the six contests to clinch the match. Yale then won two of the three doubles contests on Sunday to close out the match. The Bearcats then blanked St. Bonaventure 7-0 to complete a 2-1 weekend.
Senior Alexandre Haggai provided a big win - a 6-4, 0-6, 6-0 triumph over No. 92 Marc Powers at the top spot. Freshman Ismael Dinia also was victorious in three sets - 3-6, 7-6, 6-3 at No. 4. Haggai and Dinia also provided the lone doubles win on Sunday with an 8-3 win at No. 2.
Against St. Bonaventure, BU seized the doubles point before rolling to straight-set wins at all six singles positions.
The Bearcats face their toughest opponent of the season on Friday when they travel to Cambridge to play 16th-ranked Harvard.
