VESTAL, N.Y.—After another championship season, the Binghamton men’s tennis team has earned a final ranking of 10th in the Northeast Region, according to the ITA. The Ivy League grabbed eight of the 10 spots, headed by Harvard, Columbia and Dartmouth in the top three spots. It marked the fourth straight year that BU received a top-10 final ranking. The Bearcats were eighth in 2009, second in 2010 and eighth again last spring.
The Bearcats (15-12) won eight of their last nine matches to end the 2011-12 campaign. Binghamton won its fifth straight America East crown, which ties for the third-longest active streak in the conference in any sport. Head coach Adam Cohen was named America East Coach of the Year for the third straight year and fourth overall.
The top tandem of Ruben Devos and Bastian Bornkessel was No. 9 in the final doubles ranking. They went 26-14 overall, 16-8 in duals.
