VESTAL, N.Y.—Binghamton freshman men’s tennis player Ismael Dinia grabbed America East Player of the Week honors this week.
Dinia won all four of his matches to pace Binghamton (5-5) to a pair of 5-2 wins of Duquesne and Lehigh. At No. 5 singles, Dinia won two matches in straight sets. He also teamed with Alexandre Haggai to go 2-0 at No. 3 doubles. Dinia leads the Bearcats with a 15-9 overall record in 2011-2012 and has 11 doubles wins.
Dinia’s honor comes on the heels of classmate Robin Lesage earning Player of the Week honors last week. Lesage, who joined the Bearcat squad in January, went 3-1 last weekend, including an unbeaten mark in double action. He went 2-0 in doubles with Ruben Haggai. That tandem recorded the Bearcats’ lone victory at Penn State. He also won at No. 4 singles against Lafayette, 6-0, 6-2.
Binghamton hosts Illinois State at 7 p.m. Friday night and opposes Dartmouth at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Both matches will be held at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
