BUFFALO, N.Y.—Binghamton men’s tennis captured the doubles point and then won three of the first four completed singles matches to push past host Buffalo 4-3 Sunday afternoon at the University Tennis Center.
The Bearcats (9-11), who have won two in a row and four of their last six, used their strength at the bottom of the singles lineup to prevail in the five-hour match. The Bulls (7-8) won at the top three singles positions but after teaming to win the clinching match at third doubles together, freshman Robin Lesage and sophomore Ruben Haggai each posted singles wins at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively, to propel the Bearcats.
It was Haggai’s ninth singles dual win of the spring and second pivotal win in as many days.
Freshman No. 6 Florian van Kann also notched a key win, battling from a set down to post a 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 win that clinched the match. Buffalo won the two remaining singles matches after the outcome had been decided.
Binghamton hosts UMBC on Saturday at the nearby Tioga Hills Elementary School courts.
