VESTAL, N.Y.—Senior men’s tennis player Alexandre Haggai has been named the America East Player of the Week for March 19-25.

Haggai is the fourth Bearcat to earn the weekly honors this spring, joining brother Ruben Haggai (March 14), Ismael Dinia (Feb. 29) and Robin Lesage (Feb. 22).

Playing at No. 1 singles, Haggai knocked off 92nd-ranked Marc Powers of Yale 6-4, 0-6, 6-0 in a dual. Powers was the two-time ITA Northeast Regional runnerup. Haggai also posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 over St. Bonaventure and won two of three doubles matches during a 2-1 week for the Bearcats.

Binghamton (7-10) won two of three matches over the weekend, edging host Army 4-3 and blanking St. Bonaventure 7-0. In between, the Bearcats were defeated 5-2 by Yale.

The team continues its run against Ivy League opponents with a match at 16th-ranked Harvard this Friday. Dinia went 3-0 to raise his singles record to a team-best 20-11. Dinia, along with Haggai were the lone singles winners against Yale. Haggai and Dinia also teamed for two doubles wins over the weekend at the No. 2 spot.

The Bearcats have six scheduled matches remaining before beginning defense of their America East crown on April 28-29 in Flushing.
