Port St. Lucie, Florida—Former BU golf standout and two-time America Sky Player of the Year Jake Katz finished tied for 10th during the first stage of PGA Q School at an event held at the Wanamaker Course in Port St. Lucie. On the strength of a four-under-par final round 68, Katz guaranteed himself a spot in the next stage of qualifying.
“We are very proud and excited for Jake,” head coach Bernie Herceg said Sunday. “To qualify and get through 1st stage of Q School is a great accomplishment. Jake has worked hard all summer and fall to prepare himself for Q school and now gives himself a chance to earn his way on to the PGA tour.”
Second stage qualifying rounds begin in mid-November giving him a chance to move on with 155 others to compete in the third and final stage held from Nov. 30- Dec. 5 in LaQuinta, California.
