VESTAL, N.Y.—Binghamton men’s basketball freshman guard Jordan Reed has been named the America East Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon. It is the second honor in the first four weeks for Reed, who leads the entire conference in both scoring (18.3 ppg.) and rebounding (10.0).
Reed averaged 20.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in a pair of BU games last week. He poured in 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the team’s 77-65 home loss to Monmouth on Monday. Five days later, he added 15 points and eight boards at Bryant.
He has five double-doubles in his first eight collegiate games - the most by any guard in the entire country. Reed also ranks 27th in the nation in rebounding (2nd among freshmen) and 68th in scoring. He is one of just 23 players across the country who are averaging a double-double.
The Bearcats are in Ann Arbor reading for their Tuesday night encounter with No. 3 Michigan.
