VESTAL, N.Y.—Binghamton men’s basketball freshman guard Jordan Reed has been selected as the America East Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Reed averaged 16.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in two games during the week and received the AE honor for the third time this season.

On Sunday, Reed poured in game-highs of 23 points and 14 rebounds in BU’s narrow 79-77 loss to Cornell. He lifted his season averages to 17.3 points and 10.3 rebounds - both tops on the team.

Reed leads the conference in rebounding and ranks second in scoring. Additionally, he is tied for eighth in the entire country with seven double-doubles (in 11 games) - and is the No. 1 freshman on that list. Reed also is 17th in rebounding and is the only player under 6-foot-5 in the nation’s top 140 in rebounding.

The Bearcats open conference play at Hartford on January 2.
