VESTAL, N.Y.—On the heels of his championship performance at the Binghamton Open on Sunday, sophomore 141-pound Joe Bonaldi has earned his first entry into the national rankings. Bonaldi joins seniors Donnie Vinson and Nate Schiedel in three sets of rankings for this week.
Bonaldi went 5-0 to capture the 141-pound title at BU’s marquee home event for the season. He beat a pair of ranked Cornell wrestlers, including reigning All-American Mike Nevinger, and is currently slotted at No. 20 in both the Intermat and Amateur Wrestling News polls. Bonaldi is No. 14 in the WIN Magazine poll.

Vinson (6-0), also coming off a title at the Binghamton Open, maintained his lofty status in all three national polls. He is No. 2 in the AWN release and No. 4 in both the Intermat and WIN rankings.
Schiedel grabbed BU’s other title over the weekend and bumped up in all three major polls. He toppled reigning All-American Micah Burak of Penn, 5-2, in the championship bout and is now 5-0 overall up a weight to start the 2012-13 season. Schiedel is ranked No. 8 by AWN and Intermat and No. 13 in the WIN poll.
Junior 184-pound Cody Reed went 1-2 on the week and dropped out of all three polls.
With the narrow dual defeat at No. 21 Lehigh on Thursday, the Bearcats remain just out of the national dual rankings. The team has 34 points in the USA Today/NWCA/AWN Coaches Poll, the equivalent of 27th in the country. Binghamton is tied for 25th in WIN Magazine’s NCAA tournament-strength poll this week.
Binghamton travels to Ithaca on Friday to face No. 8 Cornell in a dual. Then the Bearcats will return to Cornell on Saturday for the New York State Championship.
