Softball blanked in pair of games at Radford Tournament
Bearcats lose 6-0 to Lehigh, 1-0 to host Highlanders

RADFORD, Va.—The bats of the Binghamton softball team (7-11) went silent during the final day of the Radford Tournament. The Bearcats lost 6-0 to Lehigh in the opener and 1-0 to Radford in the finale.
Emily Bausher of Lehigh held Binghamton to one hit and struck out a career-high 15 batters in the opener. Offensively, the Mountain Hawks got a three-run home run by Kristen Mitchell in the top of the second inning to go up 3-0. Lehigh padded the lead with three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jennifer Colquhoun had the big blow of the frame with a two-run home run.
Bausher improved her record to 5-5 with the shutout. Junior Rhoda Marsteller fell to 2-5 with the loss.
Radford, meanwhile, broke up a scorless tie in the bottom of the sixth inning of the second game on a RBI single by Jessie Hutchens. Binghamton then went down in order in the top of the seventh inning.
Highlander starting pitcher Emily Norton went the distance, allowing only one hit and striking out six batters without issuing a walk. Her record is now 1-3 while junior pitcher Kate Price falls to 1-1 with the loss.
Binghamton begins conference play next Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Boston University. The two team will then finish their doubleheader with a single game at noon on Sunday.
