Softball beats Seton Hall 6-3 at UNLV Tournament
Bump and Chaffee each knock in two runs

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Senior second baseman Jessica Bump and sophomore catcher Taylor Chaffee each drove in a pair of runs, leading Binghamton (3-5) to a 6-3 win over Seton Hall (3-11) in the final day of the UNLV/Eller Media Stadium Classic on Sunday morning. In the process, the Bearcats concluded the weekend with a 1-2 record.
Bump went 2-for-2, homered, drew a pair of walks and scored twice. Chaffee, meanwhile, finished 2-for-3 and scored a run.
Bump led off the game with a walk and scored three batters later on a sacrifice fly by Chaffee. Two innings later, she drilled a two-run home run, putting the Bearcats up 3-0.
Later in the third inning, Chaffee scored on a RBI single by freshman outfielder Bridget Hunt to make it 4-0. Hunt scored one batter later on a base hit by freshman third baseman Crysti Eichner.
Seton Hall came back with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jackie DiPietro had the big hit of the frame with a two-run triple.
The Bearcats got an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning when Chaffee’s single drove in sophomore outfielder Sydney Harbaugh.
Senior pitcher Demi Laney struck out six batters to record the complete-game victory. Her record is now 3-2. Casey Moses fell to 1-5 with the loss.
Chaffee hit a team-best .500 during the weekend (4-for-8) and belted a pair of triples. Bump finished .444, scored a team-high five runs and had a triple and a home run.
Binghamton heads to the George Washington Tournament March 8-9.
