BOSTON, Mass—Erin Schuppert threw a two-hit shutout and struck out nine batters, leading Boston University (19-8, 3-0 AE) to a 3-0 win over Binghamton in an America East Conference softball game on Sunday afternoon at the BU Softball Field. With the victory, the Terriers complete the three-game sweep over the Bearcats.
Schuppert, who improved her record to 3-3, got all of the run support she’d need in the bottom of the first inning as the Terriers took a 3-0 advantage. Brittany Clendenny and Emily Roesch had RBI singles during that frame.
From there, Schuppert allowed only three base runners the final six innings.
Junior Rhoda Marsteller pitched five scoreless innings following the Terriers’ three-run outburst but saw her record fall to 2-5. Sophomore catcher Lisa Cutrona singled and drew a walk in her two times up at bat.
Binghamton opens up its home schedule against Siena with a doubleheader on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
