VESTAL, N.Y.—This past weekend, the Binghamton softball team continued its annual tradition of taking part in the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” Walk, which was held Sunday morning at Recreation Park. The event attracted more than 6,000 walkers who raised a combined total of $225,000 for the American Cancer Society (ACS).
Since 2009, the Binghamton softball program has raised over $8,000 for the ACS. This year, donations were taken online as well as during this past weekend’s home doubleheader against Buffalo.
“The walk is an incredible event that brings together so many people in the community to support one cause,” head coach Michelle Burrell said. ” Breast cancer death rates continue to decline and this is a great way for our team to get out and make an impact in our community by raising funds for the American Cancer Society.”
