Baltimore, MD- Binghamton fell to number one seeded Stony Brook 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in the America East semifinals held at the UMBC Tennis Complex. The Seawolves bested BU on Saturday, winning their 11th dual match of the season and second over the Bearcats in 2013. SBU captured the doubles point and powered their way to their second straight America East finals appearance with wins from first, second and fifth singles.
Despite a huge performance out of Katherine Medianik and Agatha Ambrozy at first singles, SBU took the first two doubles decisions, 8-2 and 8-4, respectively, jumping ahead 1-0. Medianik and Ambrozy held a narrow 8-7 lead over reigning AE Player of the Year Nini Lagvilava and Polina Movchan before the Seawolves ended play with their 8-4 triumph over Alexis Tashiro and Shea Brodsky.
Lagvilava took down Medianik in straight sets and freshmen Alexis Tashiro and Agatha Ambrozy suffered tough two set losses, giving the Seawolves the 4-0 decision. Brodsky won her first set at the fourth spot and Missy Edelblum was ahead in the second set at sixth singles.
The Bearcats wrapped up the season with a 5-17 record in 2013. They will return six players next season, only losing one player to graduation (Jessie Rubin).
