Swimming & Diving Announces 2012-13 Incoming Class
15 freshmen set to join head coach Sean Clark's program in the fall

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton swimming and diving program has announced its incoming class for the 2012-13 academic year, as released by head coach Sean Clark. A group consisting of eight men and seven women will be joining the Bearcats in the fall. The 15 total freshmen comprise one of Clark’s largest classes in recent years.
Elle Anastasiou (Hawthorne, N.Y./Westlake) is a six-year letterwinner and two-time New York State medalist. The four-time New York State qualifier led her team to Section I titles in 2009 and 2010. The team captain specializes in 50 and 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly. She has competed in elite meets such as the NCSA Junior Nationals (2011) and the Speedo Sectionals (2010). A two-time selection to the USA Swimming Scholastic All-America Team, Anastasiou is a member of the National, Math and Spanish Honor Societies.
Claudia Coccaro (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) swam for the prestigious Team Suffolk Half Hollow Hills Swim Club. Coccaro participated in the NCSA Junior Nationals in 2012 and the Speedo Sectionals in 2011. She specializes in the 100 and 200 backstroke, 100 butterfly as well as the 200 individual medley. She swam with fellow incoming freshmen Selina Ng and Isaac Vingan on the club team.
Katie Ellsworth (Winchester Center, CT/The Gilbert School) is a three-year letterwinner who specializes in both the meter and three-meter dive. She helped lead her team to the Berkshire League title placing third on the meter board at the League Championships. Ellsworth finished second at the Class S State Meet. She claimed third at the Splash Classic helping her team win the title. She was also a four-time letterwinner in tennis earning the Coaches’ Award her senior season.
Stephanie Malyszka (Congers, N.Y./Clarkstown North) is a freestyle swimmer who earned six letters at Clarkstown High School. The all-county and all-section selection helped lead her team to the county and sectional titles in 2011-12. She earned her team’s MVP and Coaches’ Awards. In 2011 she competed in five events at the Speedo Sectionals.
Taryn McLaughlin (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) is a four-year letterwinner in the freestyle and butterfly events. She was named her team’s MVP in 2012 after leading Chatham to back-to-back undefeated seasons and state championships. She also competed in field hockey and lacrosse.
Selina Ng (Farmingdale, N.Y./Half Hollows Hills) is a five-year letterwinner that specializes in the butterfly and backstroke. She is a four-time all-league and all-county swimmer who won the Section XI 100 fly championship. Ng is a four-time New York State qualifier and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. The New York State medalist in the 100 fly was awarded the Section XI Sportsmanship Award in 2010. A three-time NCSA Junior Nationals participant, Ng earned the AP Scholar Award.
Haley Rice (Kenmore, N.Y./Kenmore West) is a five-year letterwinner that holds her school’s record in the 100 fly. She qualified for the NCSA Junior Nationals three straight years, also competing in the Speedo Champions Series winning the 400 medley relay in 2011. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is a member of the National Honor Society. She swam for the Tonawanda Titans Swim Club and holds the team record for the 100 fly.
Tom Cummings (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Nyack) specializes in the breaststroke and individual medley competing in the Speedo Champions Series in 2011 and 2012. During the 2012 Speedo Champions Series meet Cummings qualified for the finals in the breaststroke events. He also holds his Condors club team records in the breaststroke, individual medley and relays.
Andrew Duszynski (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) is a five-year letterwinner and qualified for the New York State meet four times. He was a three-time Section VI champion in the 200 IM and 100 free and was an All-American in the 200 free relay in 2010. Duszynski was also a two-time participant in the Speedo Sectionals and NCSA Junior National meets.
Eric Farm (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown) is a three-time Speedo Sectionals participant and also competed in the NCSA Junior Nationals in 2011. In 2012, Farm was a finalist at the New York State meet in the 100 back and 200 IM, finishing fifth and eighth respectively.
Darin Gillenwater (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Iona Prep) is a four-year letterwinner and team MVP. Gillenwater swims the sprint freestyle events and qualified for the Speedo Sectionals in 2010. He was a finalist at the 2012 New York State meet, placing eighth in the 50 free. He also qualified for the state meet in the 100 free.
Pat Kilgallen (Belle Harbor, N.Y./Xavier) is a four-year letterwinner and two-time New York State qualifier in the 200 and 500 free. He was named Most Outstanding Swimmer on his team four times and holds school records in the 200 and 500 free. In 2011, Kilgallen competed in the Speedo Nationals and this past March he swam at the NCSA Junior Nationals.
Kevin Ling (New Hyde Park, N.Y./Herricks) is a three-year letterwinner, who swam in the breaststroke events at the NCSA Junior Nationals in 2012. He competed for the Long Island Aquatic Club and qualified for the New York State meet four times in the 100 breast and 200 IM.
Brian McKenna (Flushing, N.Y./Queens) specializes in the sprint events and was a team captain his senior season. He is a four-time letterwinner and holds the PSAL record in the 50 free. McKenna is a four-time team MVP and helped lead his team to a fourth-place finish at the PSAL Boys Championship. He has competed in elite meets such as the NCSA Junior Nationals, USA Swimming Junior Nationals and the Speedo Sectionals.
Isaac Vingan (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) is a two-time participant at the NCSA Junior Nationals and swam for the Team Suffolk Half Hollow Hills Swim Club. He was a teammate of fellow incoming freshman Claudia Coccaro and Selina Ng on the Team Suffok club squad. Vingan specializes in the distance events and his best time in the mile would rank third all-time at Binghamton.
Binghamton begins its season with the Green/White scrimmage on October 6 then hosts fellow America East member Boston University on October 27 to officially start the 2012-13 campaign.
