VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton women’s soccer team was first to report back to campus for the fall when the team checked in on Wednesday.
Seventh-year head coach Sarah McClellan‘s squad began training on Thursday and will have 15 days to prepare for the team’s 2014 season opener vs. Temple on August 22 at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
Binghamton’s roster of 27 players includes seven returning starters and 19 returning letterwinners from last fall’s 8-8-2 squad that reached the America East quarterfinals.
The team features four seniors, six juniors, nine second-year players and eight freshmen. Senior all-conference defender Connie Gormley and senior keeper Gaby Gold will serve as co-captains. First team all-conference midfielder Rebecca Raber is back for her junior season.
The Bearcats will be aiming for their ninth postseason berth in the last 11 years. In the 10-year anniversary of the program’s 2004 America East championship and inaugural NCAA appearance, the 2014 squad will be looking to add its own page in the history books.
