VESTAL, N.Y.—Tim Heiman has been named the play-by-play announcer for the Binghamton women’s basketball team for the 2012-13 season. His first game will be on Tuesday at 7 p.m. when the Bearcats host Mansfield in an exhibition game at the Events Center. In addition, Heiman will also serve as the co-host for the Binghamton men’s and women’s basketball coaches’ show.
Since March 2011, Heiman has worked with the nearby Binghamton Mets Double-A baseball organization. He was the broadcasting & media relations assistant for his first six months before being elevated to his current position as the director.
During the past two baseball offseasons, Heiman was the play-by-play announcer for the LIU-Brooklyn women’s basketball team. He announced all of their home games plus a selected number of men’s games. In addition to has radio career, Heiman has also worked as a television announcer for Time Warner Cable Sports. Since 2009, he has been the play-by-play voice for several Rochester Polytechnic Institute (RPI) hockey games. A select number of his games were aired on the NHL network.
Heiman is a 2010 graduate of RPI.
Townsquare Media radio stations News Radio 1290 WNBF and ESPN 1360 WYOS will again provide live play by play coverage of all Binghamton Bearcats basketball games this season. This is the 15th season men’s games are airing on News Radio 1290 WNBF and the 13th season for the station’s coverage of women’s basketball games. When men’s and women’s games conflict the women will be carried on ESPN 1360 WYOS. All radio broadcasts can be accessed through www.bubearcats.com. There will also be live video accompanying all home game broadcasts.
