BOSTON, MASS.—Freshman Jesse Garn concluded his strong rookie indoor season with a seventh-place finish in the men’s mile, highlighting Binghamton’s performance at the final day of the ECAC/IC4A Championships. The Bearcat men were 43rd at the IC4A meet while the women were 48th at the ECAC Championships.

One day after recording the third-fastest preliminary time, he crossed the finish line with a time of 4:09.92. Garn was sixth overall at the America East meet two weeks ago.

The were no other point scorers for the Bearcats.


Junior Ashley AuPont tied for seventh in the women’s high jump and broke her own school record, highlighting the Binghamton track & field teams’ performances at the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships on Saturday. The two-day meet concludes on Sunday.

AuPont recorded with a jump of 5-7 3/4. Her previous mark of 5-7 was set last season. Also breaking her own school record was senior Kaitlin Sullivan, who was 12th in the 60 hurdles. Her time of 8.70 eclipsed the mark of 8.77 she set at the America East Meet two weeks ago.

Elsewhere on the men’s side, senior Jesse Fuca advanced to the semifinals of the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.28. He is seeded No. 14 going into Sunday’s semifinal. Freshman Jesse Garn, meanwhile, clocked the third-fastest time in the mile preliminaries (4:07.83).

Freshman Cal Michaels was ninth in the 3,000 (8:19.93) and senior Eric van Aernam was ninth in the pole vault (15-9).
